And it came to pass that they found one whose name was Laman, and he was one of the servants of the king who was murdered by Amalickiah.
And now it came to pass that I received an epistle from Ammoron, the king, stating that if I would deliver up those prisoners of war whom we had taken, that he would deliver up the city of Antiparah unto us. ... But I sent an epistle unto the king that we were sure that our forces were sufficient to take the city of Antiparah by our force, and by delivering up the prisoners for that city we should suppose ourselves unwise, and that we would only deliver up our prisoners on exchange.
They have appointed a king over them and he hath written unto the king of the Lamanites, in the which he hath joined an alliance with him, in the which alliance he hath agreed to maintain the city of Zarahemla, in the which maintenance he supposeth will enable the Lamanites to conquer the remainder of the land. ... And he shall be placed king over this people when they shall be conquered under the Lamanites.
And thus when Moroni had gathered together whatsoever men he could in all his march, he came to the land of Gideon; and uniting his forces with that of Parhoron’s, they became exceeding strong, even stronger than the men of Pachus, who was the king of those dissenters who had driven out the Freemen, out of the land of Zarahemla, and had taken possession of the land.
Now Ammoron, the king of the Lamanites, was also with them.

Therefore, the king of the Lamanites, whose name was Tubaloth, who was the son of Ammoron, supposing that Coriantumr, being a mighty man, could stand against the Nephites, insomuch (with his strength and also with his great wisdom) that by sending him forth, he should gain power over the Nephites, therefore he did stir them up to anger, and he did gather together his armies, and he did appoint Coriantumr to be their leader, and did cause that they should march down to the land of Zarahemla to battle against the Nephites.
And it came to pass in the fifty and fourth year, there were many dissensions in the church, and there was also a contention among the people, insomuch that there was much bloodshed; and the rebellious part were slain and driven out of the land, and they did go unto the king of the Lamanites.
O remember, remember, my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people.

And behold, that great city Jacob-ugath, which was inhabited by the people of king Jacob, have I caused to be burned with fire because of their sins and their wickedness, which was above all the wickedness of the whole earth because of their secret murders and combinations, for it was they that did destroy the peace of my people and the government of the land.
The kings shall shut their mouths at him, for that which had not been told them shall they see, and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
And when that day shall come, it shall come to pass that kings shall shut their mouths, for that which had not been told them shall they see, and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
And now the Lamanites had a king, and his name was Aaron, and he came against us with an army of forty and four thousand.

And when he had gathered together an army, he came up unto the land of Moron where the king dwelt and took him captive, which brought to pass the saying of the brother of Jared that they would be brought into captivity. ... Now the land of Moron where the king dwelt was near the land which is called Desolation by the Nephites.
And it came to pass that Noah rebelled against Shule the king, and also his father Corihor, and drew away Cohor his brother, and also all his brethren, and many of the people. ... And he gave battle unto Shule the king, in which he did obtain the land of their first inheritance; and he became a king over that part of the land. ... And it came to pass that he gave battle again unto Shule the king; and he took Shule the king, and carried him away captive into Moron. ... Nevertheless, they did not gain power any more over Shule the king. ... And the people who were under the reign of Shule the king did prosper exceedingly and waxed great.
