(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:26
So the king of the Lamanites was satisfied with Limhi’s people, and he said to them: Let’s go out unarmed to meet my people; and I give you my solemn oath that my people won’t kill your people. ... They followed the king, going out unarmed to meet the Lamanites. ... When they met the Lamanites, the king of the Lamanites bowed before them and pled on behalf of Limhi’s people. ... When the Lamanites saw Limhi’s people were unarmed, they felt sympathy for them and were satisfied, and returned peacefully with their king to their own land.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:27
Now they didn’t dare kill them because of their king’s commitment to Limhi, but they would hit them in the face, exercise authority over them, lay heavy loads on their backs, and drive them like pack mules.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:28
The people began to complain to the king because of their afflictions, wishing to retaliate. ... They greatly troubled the king with their complaints, so that he let them do as they wanted.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:31
Therefore king Limhi ordered the men to help support the widows and their children, to prevent starvation. ... And the king himself didn’t feel safe outside the city walls unless he had his guards with him.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:32
And the king, while outside the city gates with his guard, encountered Ammon and his men.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:33
Now king Limhi, before Ammon’s coming, had sent a small number of men to search for the land of Zarahemla, but they couldn’t find it. ... Now Limhi was again very pleased upon learning from Ammon that king Benjamin had a gift from God that let him interpret such engravings. ... But Ammon and his men grieved because so many of Limhi’s people had been killed and that king Noah and his priests had led the people to commit so many sins and iniquities against God. ... Since Ammon’s arrival, king Limhi and many of his people had also made a covenant with God to serve Him and keep His commandments.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:34
And king Limhi and many of his people wanted to be baptized, but there was no one available who had authority from God. ... Now the entire focus and planning of Ammon, king Limhi, and his people was to escape from the Lamanites and get free from slavery.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 10:1
Ammon and king Limhi discussed with the people how to get free from slavery.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 10:2
Then Gideon came forward and addressed the king, saying: Your majesty, you’ve taken my advice many times before while we fought our Lamanite brothers. ... The king wanted to hear him, and Gideon said: Consider the back passageway through the back wall behind the city. ... The king adopted Gideon’s plan and had his people gather their flocks. ... They drank the wine king Limhi sent them without restraint.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 10:3
And so king Limhi’s people ran away during the night into the wilderness with their flocks and herds.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11
An account of Alma and the Lord’s people, who were driven into the wilderness by king Noah’s people.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:1
The Lord warned Alma that king Noah’s armies were coming to attack them, and Alma told his people. ... So they gathered their flocks, took their grain, and went into the wilderness ahead of king Noah’s armies. ... The Lord gave them strength, so they stayed ahead of king Noah’s people coming to kill them.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:2
And the people wanted Alma to be their king, since they loved and trusted him. ... But he told them: It isn’t advisable for us to have a king. ... Therefore I advise you against having a king. ... However, if it were possible to always have ethical men as your kings, it would be worthwhile to have a king — but remember the iniquity of king Noah and his priests. ... Now as God’s power has freed you from these chains, from the control of king Noah and his people, and from the chains of sin, I want you to maintain your liberty, and never trust any man to be a king ruling you.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:5
Now the Lamanite armies, who had gone in pursuit of king Limhi’s people, had been lost in the wilderness for many days. ... But they had found those priests of king Noah in a place they called Amulon, where they had settled and farmed.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:6
The king of the Lamanites appointed Amulon to be a king and ruler over his people in Helam. ... However, he was only given power to obey the will of the king of the Lamanites.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:7
And Amulon earned the trust of the king of the Lamanites, so the king allowed him and his men to be appointed teachers of his people in the lands of Shemlon, Shilom, and Amulon. ... The Lamanites had control of all these lands; so the king of the Lamanites had appointed rulers over each of them. ... Now the name of the king of the Lamanites was Laman, and he was named after his father, and was called king Laman.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:8
This was because Amulon recognized Alma had been one of the king’s priests and was the one who believed Abinadi’s words and was thrown out by the king. ... Although he had to obey king Laman, Amulon still abused Alma’s people, demanding work from them and putting taskmasters over them.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:12
After they had been in the wilderness for twelve days, they arrived in Zarahemla, and king Mosiah also received them joyfully.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:13
Now king Mosiah called all the people together.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:16
After Alma finished teaching the people many things and concluded his preaching, king Limhi wanted to be baptized and so did all his people.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:17
Then king Mosiah authorized Alma to organize congregations throughout the land of Zarahemla, letting him ordain priests and teachers over each one.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:18
But many of the younger generation couldn’t understand king Benjamin’s words since they were little children when he addressed his people.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:19
King Mosiah gave Alma control over the congregation, and Alma was aware of these offenders because there were many witnesses against them — indeed, many people came forward and testified of their iniquity. ... Now nothing like this had happened before in the congregation, so Alma was deeply troubled and he took them to the king. ... He said to the king: We’ve brought to you those who have been accused by their associates. ... But king Mosiah told Alma: I’m not going to judge them.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:23
And Alma brought the case before their king, Mosiah, who consulted with his counselors.
(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 11:24
King Mosiah sent a proclamation throughout the land that no unbeliever should mistreat or hurt anyone who belonged to God’s congregation.
