(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:2

And king Noah built many impressive and large buildings, covering them with fine woodwork and a variety of valuable things: gold, silver, iron, brass, ziff, and copper.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:6

So king Noah sent guards on all sides of the land to protect against them, but he didn’t send enough.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:7

Then king Noah sent his armies against them, and they forced them back at first. ... Then they bragged and enjoyed war, and wanted to attack and kill their Lamanite relatives — because of the wicked leadership of their king and priests.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:9

When king Noah had heard about the things Abinadi said to the people, he was also very angry and said: Who does Abinadi think he is, judging me and my people like this? ... And king Noah completely ignored the Lord’s word and didn’t change his evildoing.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:11

And king Noah’s life will have the same future as a piece of cloth thrown in a furnace fire; he’ll know that I Am the Lord.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:14

And they took him, tied him up, and brought him before the king, and said to the king: We’ve brought a man before you who’s prophesied evil about your people saying God will destroy them.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:16

Then king Noah had Abinadi thrown in prison and he ordered his priests to assemble so that he could hold a council with them about what to do with him. ... They said to the king: Bring him here so we can question him. ... And the king ordered him to be brought to them.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:19

When the king had heard these words, he told his priests: Take this man away and kill him!

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 7:20

After Abinadi had said this, king Noah’s people didn’t dare seize him, since the Spirit of the Lord was upon him.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:1

When Abinadi had finished speaking, the king ordered the priests to take him and have him put to death. ... Therefore he started to plead with the king not to be angry with Abinadi, but to let him leave in peace. ... But the king became even angrier and had Alma thrown out and sent servants to kill him.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:2

The king had his guards surround Abinadi and take him, tie him up, and throw him in prison. ... The king consulted with his priests and after three days, he had Abinadi brought back.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:4

Now king Noah was about to release him, because he was afraid of what he had been told, and worried God’s judgments would fall on him. ... But the priests cried out loudly in opposition, accusing and claiming: He’s insulted the king! ... So the king was provoked to anger against him, and he instead decided to have him executed.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:6

Now Alma, who escaped from king Noah’s servants, repented of his sins and iniquities and began secretly teaching Abinadi’s words to others: about what was coming, the resurrection of the dead, and the redemption of mankind, which was accomplished through Christ’s power, suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. ... He taught all those who would listen to him, teaching them privately so it wouldn’t become known to the king. ... It had received its name from the king and was sometimes overrun by wild animals. ... There was a spring of pure water in Mormon, and Alma hid there during the day in a thicket of small trees near the water, to avoid the king’s pursuit.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:13

These things were done in the outskirts of the land to escape the notice of the king. ... But the king, noticing the conduct of the people, sent his servants to follow them. ... So on the day they assembled to hear the Lord’s word, they were betrayed and revealed to the king. ... Now the king accused Alma of inciting the people to rebellion against him. ... But Alma and the Lord’s people learned the king’s army was coming.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:14

And the king’s army was unable to locate them and therefore returned. ... Now the king’s soldiers were reduced to only a few. ... Then a man named Gideon — a strong man who was an enemy of the king — drew his sword and swore in anger he would kill the king. ... And he fought with the king. ... Now the king pleaded pitifully: Gideon, spare me!

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:15

And the king ordered the people to flee from the Lamanites, and he ran in front of them. ... So the king ordered the men to abandon their wives and children and run from the Lamanites.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:16

They took them back to the land of Nephi, allowing them to live there under the condition that they would hand over king Noah to the Lamanites and pay them half of everything they owned — half their gold, silver, and valuables. ... They would have to pay this tribute to the king of the Lamanites yearly. ... One of king Noah’s sons, named Limhi, was among the prisoners.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:17

Gideon secretly sent men into the wilderness to search for the king and those with him. ... They located the missing people, all except for the king and his priests. ... But the king ordered them not to return, and they became so angry with the king they executed him by burning him to death.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:18

They informed Gideon’s soldiers that they had killed the king and that his priests ran into the wilderness. ... After they finished the discussion, they returned to the land of Nephi, rejoicing because their wives and children hadn’t been killed; and they told Gideon they executed the king.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:19

Following this the king of the Lamanites committed to them that his people wouldn’t kill them. ... And Limhi, the king’s son, by a vote of the people, had the kingdom conferred on him. ... He also agreed with the king of the Lamanites that his people would pay taxes to him of half of everything they had.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:20

The king of the Lamanites put guards surrounding the land to confine Limhi’s people, so they couldn’t escape into the wilderness. ... Now king Limhi had two years of peace in his kingdom, and the Lamanites didn’t harass them or try to kill them during that time.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:21

Because king Noah’s priests were ashamed to return to the city of Nephi, and fearing the people would kill them, they didn’t dare return to their wives and children.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:22

So they sent their armies out — led by the king himself — and they went up to the land of Nephi to attack and kill Limhi’s people.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:24

After the battle was over, they found the king of the Lamanites alive among the bodies of the fallen Lamanites. ... So they took him, bandaged his wounds, and brought him to Limhi, saying: Here is the king of the Lamanites. ... The king replied: I’ve broken the agreement because your people kidnapped some of my people’s daughters.

(Covenant of Christ) Mosiah 9:25

Now when Gideon, the king’s captain, heard about this, he came and said to the king: Please don’t bother investigating our people; don’t accuse them of this. ... Think about it and go tell the king about them, so that he can explain it to his people and they can be reassured about us. ... Their large army outnumbers us and we will be killed unless their king explains we are innocent. ... So let’s satisfy the king and fulfill the agreement we have made with him. ... Then Limhi told the king all about his father and the priests who had fled into the wilderness, attributing their daughters’ kidnapping to them.
