Wherefore, Ziklag pertains unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
And the king said unto her, Be not afraid, for what did you see?
And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or these years?
And what have you found in your servant, so long as I have been with you unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord, the king?
THE SECOND BOOK OF SAMUEL OTHERWISE CALLED THE SECOND BOOK OF THE KINGS
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. ... Therefore, now let your hands be strengthened, and be valiant, for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul’s host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to Mahanaim, and made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel. ... And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
And the third, Absalom the son of Maacah, the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur.
And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, You sought for David in times past to be king over you.
And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with you, and that you may reign over all that your heart desires.
When Joab and all the host that was with him had come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he has sent him away, and he is gone in peace. ... Then Joab came to the king and said, What have you done?
And king David himself followed the bier. ... And they buried Abner in Hebron, and the king lifted up his voice and wept at the grave of Abner. ... And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Did Abner die as a fool dies?
And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them, as whatever the king did pleased all the people. ... For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner. ... And the king said unto his servants, Do you not know that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel? ... And I am this day weak, though anointed king.
And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David, to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth, the son of Saul your enemy, who sought your life. ... And the Lord has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were he that led out and brought in Israel.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king, to Hebron, and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord. ... And they anointed David king over Israel.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house. ... And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David.
And it was told to king David, saying, The Lord has blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertains unto him, because of the ark of God.
And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart.
And Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids, of his servants, as one of the vain men shamelessly uncovers himself!
And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies, that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains. ... And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.
Then king David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me hitherto?
