Pollutions

To pollute is to defile, violate the sanctity of, or render something ceremonially unclean. The use of the word pollute to mean “contaminate the environment” hadn’t emerged until 1860. And people will hear of wars, reports of wars, and earthquakes in various places. It will come at a time when there will be great pollutions on the earth: there will be murders, robbing, lying, deceiving, whoredoms, and all kinds of abominations (Mormon 4:4 CE). You pollutions, hypocrites, and you teachers who sell yourselves for things that will corrode and decay, why have you polluted God’s holy congregation? (Mormon 4:5 CE).
