List

    An archaic verb meaning to wish, desire, like, or choose, as in the third-person singular simple present indicative form “listeth to obey.”1 It is used three times in the Book of Mormon and twice in the Teachings and Commandments. In each of the following examples, the word choose can be substituted: For behold, there is a woe pronounced upon him who listeth [chooses] to obey that spirit; for if he listeth [chooses] to obey him, and remaineth and dieth in his sin s… (Mosiah 1:10). Therefore, he listeth [chooses] to obey the evil spirit and becometh an enemy to all righteousness (Mosiah 1:11), Neither shall they be driven with fierce winds withersoever the enemy listeth [chooses] to carry them (Alma 14:16).
