Keeper of the Gate
The Keeper of the Gate is Christ. The Scriptures declare, And the gatekeeper is the Holy One of Israel, and He doesn’t use any servant there. There’s no other way except through the gate, and He can’t be deceived since His name is the Lord God. He’ll open to whoever knocks (2 Nephi 6:11 CE). When it comes to salvation for any of the children of men, God is hands-on: The Redeemer is the one who keeps the gate, protects the way, and greets those along the way. He alone will introduce His children to the Father.1You should enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the road is vast that leads to destruction, and many enter through those; because the gate is narrow and the pathway tight leading to life, and very few find it (3 Nephi 6:9 CE). This is a sobering remark by the forgiving Lord. He invites all to come to Him, even while He is realistic about how few will respond. It requires repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and living by every word which comes from Him. It is strait and therefore narrow. But it lies in a straight path before all men. All can know they are on it when they encounter the gatekeeper, for He has no servant there. He alone maintains that gate through which entry to salvation is gained.2 “He will take your hand personally, identify himself, and show you the signs and tokens — as he did when he came to the Nephites, one by one, even the children, and gave them each a personal blessing.”3See also STRAIT/STRAIGHT.
